This project transformed a gutted commercial space in a 1925 pre-war high-rise into a gracious two-bedroom apartment facing Rittenhouse Square, one of Philadelphia’s most stately parks. Key priorities were to create a sanctuary within the city and forge a strong connection to the outdoors. Nearly every room provides access to natural light, views, or exterior space. The dining room and kitchen open directly onto an enclosed solarium and loggia with bi-folding windows that frame uninterrupted park views. The living room and guest bedroom open to a private, south-facing balcony. Natural light floods the residence through large windows, many of which were newly inserted into the historic brick façade, and strategically placed glazed partitions bring daylight deep into the interior.  The material palette is restrained yet highly refined, curated in close collaboration with the owner to evoke a sense of calm and informality.

The design blends the openness of a loft with the spatial clarity of a traditional home, creating a layered progression of spaces that become more private as one moves inward.
