Philadelphia’s newly designed transit shelters will replace all 300 of the city’s existing shelters and occupy an additional 300 new shelter locations. The wheelchair-accessible shelters feature wood benches, LED lighting, route maps, and backlit or digital advertising displays. The glass roof frames views of the sky and cityscape with its structure and provides a balance of shading in the summer and solar-powered warmth in the winter.  Each shelter is composed of a shop fabricated kit of parts that have easy replacement in the case of damage, built in leveling devices for on-site adjustment to irregular street conditions, and various points of attachment for specialty lighting and decoration.
